Which grip should I use for my one-handed backhand?

By Jeff Cooper, About.com

Question: Which grip should I use for my one-handed backhand?
Answer: The most versatile grip, allowing you to hit topspin, flat, or slice with the most comfort, is the Eastern backhand. The full Eastern is a little more difficult for most players than the modified Eastern, but it can be slightly stronger for topspin. The Western backhand allows some players to hit heavy topspin, but it's too difficult for most, and it's poorly suited to slice or even flat shots. The Continental backhand is good for slice and not bad for flat shots, but weak for topspin.
