2008 Olympic Tennis Final Medal Results

In women's singles, Russia swept all three Olympic tennis medals. Elena Dementieva defeated Dinara Safina 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to win the gold medal, and Vera Zvonareva won the bronze over Li Na (China) 6-0, 7-6.

The rest of the 2008 tennis medals showed the kind of geographic spread that always adds so much flavor to both tennis and the Olympics.

In men's singles, Rafael Nadal (Spain) won the gold medal over Fernando Gonzales (Chile), 6-3, 7-6(2), 6-3, and Novak Djokovic (Serbia) won the bronze by defeating James Blake (USA) 6-3 7-6(4).

In women's doubles, Venus and Serena Williams (USA) defeated Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual (Spain) 6-2, 6-0 to win the gold medal, and Yan Zi and Zheng Jie (China) won the bronze over Alona and Kateryna Bondarenko (Ukraine) 6-2, 6-2.

In men's doubles, Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka (Switzerland) won the gold medal over Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson (Sweden), 6-3, 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-3, and Mike and Bob Bryan (USA) won the bronze by defeating Michael Llodra and Arnaud Clement (France) 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
